15-Year-Old Juvenile Charged After Carjacking, Police Chase
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police say they have charged a 15-year-old juvenile after a carjacking and police chase that originated in southeast Charlotte.
According to reports, the teen suspect broke into a vehicle parked near a business on Monroe Road around 12:30pm. The car’s owner ran into the business for help, and an employee then approached the suspect. Police say the suspect pulled a gun and fired several shots, hitting the business, and then took off on foot.
While police were searching the area officials say they received a call about a suspect holding a gun to a woman’s head on Cranbrook Lane, and then taking off with her keys and car.
CMPD says officers quickly located the stolen vehicle, and were led on a pursuit that ended when the suspect crashed into a telephone pole on Randolph Road.
Police say he was taken to CMC with minor injuries from the crash and will be formally charged upon his released.
