Monitoring Gulf for potential tropical development

The next name on the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season list is Dexter.

Tropical Weather Outlook Kml

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) continues to monitor an area of low pressure just off the east coast of Florida for tropical development. While we likely won’t see a tropical storm today, the budding system now has a 40% chance of development by the end of the week as it treks westward and emerges over the northern Gulf.

The fledgling storm’s organization looks impressive on radar & satellite – how well it holds together as it crosses westward over the Sunshine State will be crucial for its prospects.

Regardless of development, this storm will almost certainly bring heavy rain to the central Gulf Coast; some of this moisture could find its way into the Carolinas by the start of next week. The next name on the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season list is Dexter.
