One Dead After Vehicle Collides With C.A.T.S. Bus In North Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — One person is dead after a vehicle collided with a C.A.T.S. bus on N. Tryon Street Saturday night.

The CMPD says at about 11:15 p.m. on Saturday night, officers responded to an accident in the 4700 block of N. Tryon Street near Sugar Creek Road.

Investigators believe the C.A.T.S. bus had just pulled off from a stop when a 2007 Nissan Sentra ran into the back of the bus.

The driver of the Nissan Sentra was unresponsive and pronounced dead on the scene by MEDIC personnel. Β The driver’s name is being withheld pending notification of kin.

The C.A.T.S. bus had 14 people on board but no reported injuries.

Speed was not a factor in the accident according to police but drug and alcohol use is suspected for the driver of the Nissan Sentra.

The case is still under investigation.
