Summer weather dominates

Unsettled weather on the horizon

After a hot Saturday, the summer-like weather continues for the start of the new week. Luckily, the Panthers home opener looks fantastic, although it will be warm! Expect highs near 85 in the Queen City, and the lower 70s in the High Country on Sunday. Rain chances are near 0% in the Piedmont, but we could see an isolated storm in the High Country. After Sunday, we start a warming trend with each day being a degree or two warmer than the previous through Wednesday. Rain chances stay near 0% in Charlotte through at least Tuesday.

By Wednesday of next week, the pattern becomes unsettled as low pressure works into the Ohio Valley, bringing a moist southerly flow into our region. On Wednesday rain chances rise to 20%, and by Friday we get to a 60% chance of rain, with temperatures falling back to the upper 70s. Luckily we could use the rain, as we haven’t seen a drop in two weeks! Unfortunately, the timing of this could affect high school football, so stay tuned for the latest!

Tropical Storm Gabrielle continues to strengthen in the open Atlantic, but will turn out to sea with no impacts to land. There is another wave behind Gabrielle in the tropical Atlantic, but currently data shows no direct threats to the United States. We will continue to watch it and keep you up to date with the latest right here on WCCB Charlotte!
