MIAMI, FL – Major Hurricane Gabrielle continues to swirl away from the Carolinas over the open Atlantic, but we’ve got (potentially) bigger fish to fry.
We’ll want to watch two areas for potential development north of the Caribbean closely over the coming days. These two regions have 60% and 90% odds of development over the next seven days, respectively; the more western, 60% chance region is the one we want to keep our eyes on the most. Medium-range models bring what appears to be a named storm in the vicinity of the Carolinas early next week. The next two names on the 2025 Atlantic list are Humberto and Imelda.
As we know all too well when it comes to the tropics, a lot can and will change. It’s still way too early to know how these potential systems will impact the Carolinas, if at all. That said, it’s essential to stay weather-wise as we enter the final months of hurricane season – your WCCB weather team will keep you updated as the forecast becomes clearer.
