LANCASTER, S.C. (News Release) – USC Lancaster’s Native American Studies Center joins local organizations in celebrating a weekend of dialogue, community, and creativity from Oct. 17-19 as part of the 2025 South Carolina Humanities Festival. The Center will hold special in-person and virtual events as part of the annual festival, held this year in Lancaster and hosted by the Lancaster County Council of the Arts.
Events at the Center kick off on Friday, Oct. 17 from 4-5:30 p.m. with The Third Place: A Humanities Happy Hour. Facilitated by South Carolina Humanities Executive Director Dr. Jennifer Gunter, this community conversation will examine issues relating to building community and bridging relationships.
“We are delighted that NAS Center faculty and staff are involved in this event. Given the rich cultural and artistic history of Lancaster, it’s no surprise that we were chosen to host this festival.”
said USCL’s Director of Native American Studies Dr. Stephen Criswell. “We hope that visitors will gain a greater appreciation for our area’s history and culture as well as for the humanities in general.”
