CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte Fire Department Firefighter Randall Kennedy, 25, was arrested and charged with assault on a female around 5 a.m. Friday.
CMPD responded to the 5700 block of Copper Creek Court and spoke with Kennedy and 18-year-old Yamina Oliver who both say they were assaulted. Kennedy was arrested and taken to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s office. Ms Oliver was arrested a few hours later and charged with assault.
Randall was taken off duty pending results of the investigation.
The Charlotte Fire Department released a statement saying that they take these charges very seriously and, “We hold all our employees to a high standard and immediate action was taken following the arrest.”
The Fire Department says appropriate discipline will be administered.
