Widespread rain moving in Thursday

Evening commute highly impacted by rain

Tonight remains on the calm side with increasing clouds as we await the arrival of our next storm system.  We’ll hang onto mostly cloudy skies, and while most of us stay dry, a stray shower can’t be ruled out late. Temperatures will be mild for this time of year, only dipping into the upper 40s to low 50s by daybreak.

If you’re up early tomorrow morning, you may see an isolated shower, but for most of us, the real rain holds off until mid-afternoon into the evening hours. It’s definitely one of those days you should keep the umbrella nearby.

Some of the rain will come down pretty hard at times, especially in a few heavier pockets. Rainfall totals will vary, but most spots should land somewhere between about a half inch and up to an inch and a half.

The good news is that this storm system doesn’t stick around long. Rain clears out early Friday morning, though we’ll feel it on the backside with gusty winds blowing in. It’ll feel noticeably breezier as we wrap up the week.

Looking ahead, the weekend is shaping up nicely. Things quiet down, the sun makes more appearances, and temperatures start to climb. By Sunday, highs are pushing close to 60 degrees!

Holiday travel plans this weekend or heading into early next week, things are looking pretty smooth across the region. No major weather headaches on the radar, which is always a win.
