ROCK HILL, SC — Troopers are investigating an accident that left one person dead and two injured Monday afternoon.
The accident happened just after 4pm on Highway 161 near W. Mount Gallant Road. Officials say Michael Roes, 37, of York, was driving a 2004 Honda Civic when he crossed into oncoming traffic, lost control, and was hit by 43-year-old Steven Dickson’s 2013 Ford F-150.
A co-worker took Dickson to Piedmont Medical Center with minor injuries, according to officials, and Roes was transported by Medic to CMC-Main.
Roes’ passenger, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead on the scene.
Officials say all parties were wearing seatbelts when the accident occurred. Troopers are still trying to determine what may have led to the crash.
No charges have been filed at this time, but the investigation is ongoing.
