Classes canceled at South Carolina State University after deadly shooting leaves 2 dead and 1 seriously hurt
ORANGEBURG, S.C. – South Carolina law enforcement officials are investigating after a deadly triple-shooting at South Carolina State University. Officials say the men were shot at an apartment in the Hugine Suites Student Complex just after nine Thursday night. Two died and one was seriously hurt. Classes were canceled Friday, and counselors are available to students. There’s no word yet on motive for the shooting or if detectives have any suspects.
Orangeburg Mayor Michael Butler released a statement, saying in part, “Let me be clear: violence has no place in Orangeburg and it does not reflect who we are as a community. Orangeburg is a city rooted in resilience, education, faith, and unity. Moments like this test us, but they also remind us of the importance of standing together.”
