The Edge: British police arrest ex-Prince Andrew; many wonder if America will also make arrests in Epstein case
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Shockwaves across the U.K. and beyond. Ex-Prince Andrew, now formally known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, has been arrested by British police in connection to the Jeffrey Epstein scandal. Authorities say the arrest is tied to newly released Epstein files and allegations of misconduct in public office, including claims he may have shared sensitive government information while serving as a U.K. trade envoy. Police searched multiple properties as part of the investigation. He has long denied any wrongdoing.
Marina Lacerda, an Epstein survivor, wants to see similar accountability in the U.S., saying, “The DOJ stands for Department of Justice. They need to take some action on this. It’s serious. We gotta look at other countries and we got to see ourselves…other countries are looking at us and they’re talking about us and they’re saying, ‘what are they doing? Why aren’t they taking any action?'”
Following Andrew’s arrest, King Charles and Queen Camilla kept their normally scheduled events. Royal historian Kate Williams says the royal family now have a huge problem on their hands. Williams says, “This is the biggest crisis for the royal family since the death of Diana, and of course the death of Diana, people did forgive the Queen quite quickly for being there with the boys at Balmoral. This is something totally different. Andrew has been arrested, been arrested on these extremely serious allegations of misconduct in public office.”
Will America follow suit and start holding those named in the Epstein files to account?
