Grammy-winning singer Stephanie Mills celebrates World Down Syndrome Day

CHARLOTTE, N.C.– Legendary Grammy-Award-Winning singer and Broadway icon Stephanie Mills, who lives in Charlotte, will be available for select media interviews in support of the Rock Your Socks fundraiser taking place March 21 in recognition of World Down Syndrome Day.

The event supports global awareness and fundraising efforts for individuals with Down syndrome and holds special meaning for Mills. Her son has Down syndrome, and she has long been a passionate advocate for inclusion, visibility, and support for families in the community.

The Rock Your Socks movement is a worldwide campaign tied to World Down Syndrome Day that encourages people to wear colorful or mismatched socks as a symbol of acceptance and celebration of differences. The date 3/21 represents the triplication of the 21st chromosome that causes Down syndrome.

This year’s fundraiser also takes place one day before Mills’ birthday, making the event a meaningful way for the Grammy-winning artist to celebrate by giving back to a cause close to her heart.
