CHARLOTTE, N.C.– Legendary Grammy-Award-Winning singer and Broadway iconΒ Stephanie Mills, who lives in Charlotte,Β will be available forΒ select media interviews in supportΒ of theΒ Rock Your SocksΒ fundraiser taking place March 21 in recognition ofΒ World Down Syndrome Day.
The event supports global awareness and fundraising efforts for individuals with Down syndrome and holds special meaning for Mills. Her son has Down syndrome, and she has long been a passionate advocate for inclusion, visibility, and support for families in the community.
TheΒ βRock Your SocksβΒ movement is a worldwide campaign tied to World Down Syndrome DayΒ that encourages people to wear colorful or mismatched socks as a symbol of acceptance and celebration of differences.Β The dateΒ 3/21Β represents the triplication of the 21st chromosome that causes Down syndrome.
This yearβs fundraiser also takes placeΒ one day before Millsβ birthday, making the event a meaningful way for the Grammy-winning artist to celebrate by giving back to a cause close to her heart.
