South Carolina homicide suspect captured in Monroe

MONROE, N.C. – The Monroe Police Department found and captured a homicide suspect in Monroe in connection with a South Carolina homicide.

Authorities were notified that a homicide occurred in Chesterfield, South Carolina on Monday morning and identified the suspect’s vehicle with Flock Safety License Plate Readers.

The vehicle was located at the Icemorlee Apartment Complex as officers waited for specialized units to respond. The Monroe Police Department Special Response Team and the Union County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team worked in tandem to confront the suspect in the parking lot.

The suspect, Reggie Martavious Ivey, 27, of Monroe was taken into custody due to an outstanding murder warrant.

The investigation remains ongoing.
