Man accused of pulling out a gun at Birkdale Village waives his right to court-appointed attorney
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The man accused of pointing a gun and causing a panic at Birkdale Village in Huntersville over the weekend waived his right to a court-appointed attorney.
Huntersville Police officers say 38-year-old James Harrison took the gun out inside the North Italia restaurant at the popular shopping center around 7:30 Saturday night, pointed it at a man named Austin Atkins and told him he would shoot him.
Witnesses say the chaos led to customers running for safety. Harrison is charged with assault by pointing a gun and communicating threats.
Harrison is due back in court in June.
