Wednesday marks two years since deadly officer ambush in east Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Wednesday marks two years since four officers were killed on Galway Drive in east Charlotte. They were part of a U.S. Marshal task force and included CMPD Officer Joshua Eyer, Deputy U.S. Marshal Tommy Weeks and Department of Corrections Investigators Sam Poloche and Alden Elliott.

The DA’s review says the suspect, Terry Hughes, saw officers approach from a side door, then went inside and started firing from an upstairs window. The review says he fired 29 rounds, then jumped out of the window before officers shot him.
