Spirit Airlines announces shutdown of operations
DANIA BEACH, FL- Spirit airlines announced early Saturday morning that it has begun shutting down operations.
The decision will put 17,000 people out of a job.
According to Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy — several U.S. carriers will be capping fares for stranded spirit passengers.
Soaring jet fuel costs — which have nearly doubled since the start of the war in Iran — derailed the airline’s plans to emerge from its second bankruptcy.
Spirit and the Trump Administration also failed to come to a last minute bailout deal on Friday.
