Meck. Co. DA clears 2 CMPD officers involved in deadly shooting of crime spree suspect

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s office has cleared two CMPD officers who shot and killed a suspect accused in a crime spree from last October.

Investigators say Joseph Andrade stole a car, crashed into a home, kidnapped a woman and led police on a high speed chase, before being killed in a shootout.

That crime spree stretched from Hoskins Road all the way to Freedom and Morehead. In a letter to the SBI, the DA says officers were justified in exercising deadly force in defense of themselves and others.
