Mooresville Police Dept. dedicates new fallen officer memorial

MOORESVILLE, N.C. – It’s National Police Week. On Tuesday, the Mooresville Police Department dedicated a new fallen officer memorial. The department also held its annual ceremony remembering officers who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Mooresville’s Police Chief says written on the back of the monument is the phrase, “You’re never really gone, until you’re forgotten.”

Chief Ron Campurciani says, “In 20, 30, 40 years from now, 50 years for you young guys, we’re all going to be gone, right? And this parking lot is going to be filled with new people. They’re (the people listed on the monument) going to be here. They’re still going to be here. That’s pretty impressive.”

Three officers are remembered on the monument, including Officer Jordan Sheldon who was shot and killed during a traffic stop in May 2019.
