Deputies arrested a York County park superintendent who is accused of embezzling over $60,000 in park funds.
Jason Ratterree, the park superintendent at Field Day Park in Clover, South Carolina, turned himself in Thursday following a monthslong investigation.
On March 20, 2026, deputies were asked to investigate “financial irregularities” at Field Day Park involving cash payments that weren’t documented. According to the arrest warrant, Ratterree stole in excess of $60,000 in cash that was paid to the park.
Ratterree is accused of using the money for his own personal use, which includes vacations, home improvement purchases, and private school tuition. The alleged crimes had been going on since October 2020.
No other park or York County employees were identified as suspects, deputies said.
Ratterree was charged with embezzlement exceeding $10,000. He was booked into the York County Detention Center and is awaiting a bond.
The investigation remains ongoing.
“Anyone who has paid cash to Field Day Park for field rentals, community center or pavilion rentals, sponsorships, pickleball classes, or as a food truck vendor during that timeframe is asked to come forward,” the sheriff’s office said.
