Cooler with wall to wall sunshine before light rain returns Saturday

Sunday is the pick day of the weekend

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – After several days of on-and-off rain, Friday finally gives us a break! We’re looking at a really nice end to the week with plenty of sunshine, low humidity, and temperatures warming into the mid 80s by the afternoon. It’s the kind of day where you’ll want to be outside before the weather changes again.

The forecast starts to shift late Friday night as clouds begin increasing ahead of our next system. By early Saturday morning, a few scattered showers move in, and rain chances continue to build through the late morning and afternoon hours. Saturday won’t be a washout, but there will definitely be periods of showers and a few thunderstorms around, especially during the first half of the day.

Because of the extra clouds and rain, temperatures Saturday stay a bit cooler with highs topping out near the upper 70s. Not everyone sees rain all day long either. Some areas, especially north of Charlotte, may end up with longer dry stretches, while communities farther south could see better storm coverage.

The good news is we dry things out fairly quickly Saturday night. That leads to a much more comfortable Sunday with a mix of sunshine and clouds and noticeably cooler air settling in. Afternoon highs will stay in the middle 70s, and overall it’s shaping up to be the nicer half of the weekend.

Looking ahead to next week, the more unsettled pattern starts to creep back in. Another system approaches Monday, bringing scattered showers and a few afternoon thunderstorms. Temperatures slowly climb back toward the upper 70s and low 80s. Sunshine will win out for the rest of the week.
