CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man was struck and killed on Idlewild Road late Monday night.
The incident happened around 10 p.m. in the 8500 block of Idlewild Road near Cresthill Drive.
When CMPD officers arrived on scene, they located 21-year-old Harvey Lee Pettis IV who was sent by Medic to the hospital with life threatening injuries. He later died. The white truck left the scene without rendering aid, calling 911 or giving any information. Officers say the suspect was likely driving a 2014-2015 white Ford F-150. The white truck was last seen traveling southeast on Idlewild Road towards Margaret Wallace Road and will have front end and possible headlamp damage.
The investigation is still ongoing. Check back for updates.
