Sunshine returns along with the heat

Heat and humidity rise Wednesday

Tonight will stay quiet with warm and partly cloudy conditions sticking around through the evening. During the overnight hours, especially between about 2 a.m. and 4 a.m., there is a small chance that a brief shower could pass through. Most neighborhoods will stay dry, but don’t be surprised if a few spots pick up a quick sprinkle before daybreak.

By Wednesday morning, any lingering showers will be long gone, and we’re in for a much nicer day. Sunshine returns, clouds gradually break apart, and temperatures climb quickly into the upper 80s. It will feel more like summer again, and a steady west-southwest breeze could gust close to 20 mph at times.

Thursday brings back the heat in a bigger way. Afternoon temperatures will climb into the lower 90s under a mix of sun and clouds, and humidity levels will continue to rise. That combination of heat and moisture will help spark a few scattered showers and thunderstorms during the late afternoon and evening hoursRain chances increase even more Thursday night as additional moisture moves into the region.

Looking ahead to Friday and the Juneteenth holiday, keep the umbrella nearby. The atmosphere looks much more active, with scattered showers and thunderstorms likely throughout the day, especially during the afternoon and evening. The extra clouds and rainfall will help keep temperatures a little lower, with highs expected to stay in the mid-80s. If you’re planning outdoor celebrations, cookouts, or community events, have a backup plan ready.

The good news is that the weekend is shaping up much better. Right now, both Saturday and Sunday look mainly dry with comfortable mornings starting in the mid-60s. Afternoon temperatures will warm quickly into the upper 80s and lower 90s, making it feel like summer, but without widespread rain concerns. It should be a great weekend to spend time outside, or celebrate Father’s Day with family and friends.
