Hot and humid this weekend
Heat wave extends into all of next week
The tropical feel is in the air! We’re not completely done with the rain just yet, either. Through the evening, we’ll continue to keep an eye on a few hit-or-miss showers and thunderstorms. It won’t be a washout, so there will still be plenty of dry time mixed with intervals of sunshine and clouds. Any lingering storms will gradually fade after sunset, leaving us with a warm and muggy night.
This weekend, the heat really takes center stage.
Both Saturday and Sunday will be sizzling, with afternoon temperatures climbing to around 95 degrees. Add in the high humidity, and it’ll feel more like the lower 100s during the hottest part of the day. Saturday’s heat index could reach around 101 degrees, so if you’re planning to spend time outside be sure to drink plenty of water, wear lightweight clothing, and find some shade or air conditioning whenever you can.
Like we’ve seen so often this summer, a few isolated thunderstorms could bubble up during the late afternoon and early evening. Saturday’s best opportunity for a storm looks to be after about 3 p.m., while Sunday’s chances arrive a little later, mainly after 5 p.m. Not everyone will see rain, but if a storm develops over your neighborhood, expect a quick downpour, lightning, and gusty winds before it moves out.
As we kick off Monday, we’ll finally see storm chances decrease. Sunshine will continue with temperature increasing through the week. We’ll go for our first 100° day late week. Stay tuned!
