Charlotte Resident Arrested In Rowan County After Police Chase

ROWAN COUNTY– The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office was working traffic enforcement on northbound Interstate 85 on July 2nd and attempted to stop a 2008 BMW with a fraudulent South Carolina temporary tag, according to a news release.

This resulted in a chase involving multiple law enforcement agencies.

After diverting off Interstate 85, the vehicle proceeded to North Long Street in East Spencer, North Carolina, and eventually struck a mailbox, after careening through a yard at Robinson Road, according to officials.

After striking the mailbox, the driver is accused of exiting the vehicle with a handgun and running across Long Street toward the Norfolk Southern Railway tracks.

The driver was arrested and identified as Jadarius Marticee McCullough, a 22 year old male, who claimed to be a student at Guilford Tech in Greensboro, North Carolina, according to a news release.

During the pursuit of the vehicle, deputies say they recovered a small quantity of marijuana that had been thrown from the vehicle.   The gun was not recovered.

McCullough was charged with felony fleeing to elude; carrying a concealed weapon; reckless driving; resist, obstruct and delay a public officer; and speeding while attempting to elude.
