Highland Renaissance Academy Lockdown Lifted After Police Clear Scene

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Highland Renaissance Academy, a Charlotte Mecklenburg School of kindergarten through 5th grade, was placed on lockdown Thursday as a precaution.

The academy was placed on lock down at 10 a.m. because of police activity in the area and was lifted about 45 minutes later when the scene cleared.

CMPD says they were looking for a wanted suspect on N Tryon Street and Atando Street near the school. They were unable to locate the suspect and left the scene.
