FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — Patriots quarterback Tom Brady took to social media today to defend himself. In a 507 word posting on Facebook Brady said he and nobody in the Patriots’ organization did anything wrong. He also said he had done nothing wrong in destroying an old cell phone because he had a new one.

UNDATED (AP) — There is now a two-way tie for first place in the American League West. The Astros have won six of their last eight games to move back into first place, tied with the Angels who have lost four of their last five.

UNDATED (AP) — There was a big trade in baseball yesterday as the Rockies and Blue Jays swapped shortstops. Troy Tulowitzki (too-loh-WITS’-kee) is going to the Jays in the deal for Jose Reyes. Along with Reyes, the Rockies are getting rookie reliever Miguel Castro and two minor league pitchers to Denver while the Jays also receive 42-year-old reliever LaTroy Hawkins.

UNDATED (AP) — The Washington Nationals now have a very deep bullpen. Closer Drew Storen has been relegated to the set-up role as the Nats acquire All-Star closer Jonathan Papelbon from the Phillies. He is the Phillies all-time saves leader.

UNDATED (AP) — The Pittsburgh Penguins have dealt center Brandon Sutter to the Canucks for forward Nick Bonino and defenseman Adam Clendening. The Pens also received a second-round pick in the 2016 draft, while the Canucks pick up a third-round pick in next year’s draft from Pittsburgh.
