American Airlines Adding Year-Round Service From CLT To Munich

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — American Airlines announces the addition of a year-round service from Charlotte Douglas International Airport to Munich, beginning on March 31st, 2019. This new nonstop flight will be the first international long-haul service introduced to Charlotte by American Airlines since 2014.

“Charlotte’s unique location and cost-effective operation continues to give us opportunities to grow American’s service there,” said Vasu Raja, the Vice President of Network and Schedule Planning of American.

“Our new flights from Charlotte will provide German customers with access to our second-largest hub and onward connections to more than 120 destinations. Through our Atlantic Joint Business with British Airways, Iberia and Finnair, we have seen increased demand for service into Munich, and introducing this new flight provides more choices for customers on both [sic] side of the Atlantic,” Raja continued.

Charlotte mayor Vi Lyles also expressed her support of the decision and her graciousness toward American’s high opinion of Charlotte’s growing economy and opportunity.

“The City of Charlotte is thrilled American Airlines is adding another European destination from CLT. We know that American continues to invest in its hub at CLT because of the great business economy we have here in the region, and the cost-effective, efficient operation we maintain at the airport,” said Lyles.

The service to Munich will be carried out via a two-class Airbus 330220 aircraft featuring both Flagship Business and Premium Economy features. Flagship Business class will provide amenities such as lie-flat, aisle-accessible suites with available Bose noise-cancelling headphones, celebrity-chef inspired menus and bedding designed by premium sleep product brand Casper. Customers flying Premium Economy will find leather seats with 38 inches of pitch, noise-reducing headphones, an enhanced food and beverage selection, as well as personal amenity packages. Additionally, high-speed international Wi-Fi and personal inflight entertainment screens are accessible for each customer.

American Airlines is set to launch 8 more international flights to Europe throughout its other US hubs across the country via its Atlantic Joint Business in summer 2019.
