CMPD: Serial peeper used hidden cameras to record women in dressing rooms and more
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have arrested a man accused of recording hundreds of videos using hidden cameras. The investigation into 25-year-old Dylan Hampton began after a woman accused him of secretly recording her in a dressing room at an Old Navy store at SouthPark Mall in July.
Hampton, of Waxhaw, is also accused of hiding a camera in a dressing room at an Old Navy at Charlotte Premium Outlets in October.
After police arrested Hampton last week, they obtained a warrant to search his two cell phones. Investigators say they found over 200 videos on his phone. They say location data shows the videos are from hidden cameras Hampton installed in a home in Pineville. Police say he installed two hidden cameras in a bedroom and one in a bathroom. Multiple videos show a woman fully or partially nude. Police say Hampton can also be seen on the videos appearing to install or test the devices.
He’s now being held in the Mecklenburg County Jail on eight counts of felony secret peeping.
