LATROBE, Pa. (AP) — Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Martavis Bryant is hoping for an expanded role in the offense in 2015.
Bryant caught eight touchdowns in 10 games for the AFC North champions last season, but struggled to grasp the intricacies of the playbook.
He spent the offseason studying film and working out at the gym. He arrived at training camp 20 pounds heavier than a year ago, with most of the weight in his upper body.
Bryant says getting bigger was his idea after he had trouble fighting off defenders as a rookie. Bryant spent most of 2014 as a deep threat, but expects to be used in a variety of ways this fall.
Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger says Bryant’s development should make an offense that ranked second in NFL last season even more dangerous.
