Flood Threat From PeeDee River Over
CHESTERFIELD CO., SC — Chesterfield County is in recovery mode. The flood threat from the PeeDee River is finally over.
It crested at 47 feet Tuesday. That’s lower than predicted and the highest since 1945.
Rescuers helped people escape flooded homes in Cash, Wallace, Bennettsville and towns across the county.
Water nearly breached HWY One overpass in Cheraw.
40 homes in Chesterfield County flooded, according to the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies and the National Guard rescued at least 30 people at 10 different locations, according to the sheriff.
