RENTON, Wash. (AP) — Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has secured a big-money contract. The deal is for four years and is reportedly worth over $87 million. Wilson has led Seattle to the playoffs in each of his first three NFL seasons, beating Denver in the Super Bowl in his second season before losing to New England in the title game last February.

TORONTO (AP) — Johnny Cueto (KWAY’-toh) left with a 5-3 lead after six innings of his Kansas City Royals debut, but the Toronto Blue Jays rallied to beat KC 7-6 on Josh Donaldson’s RBI single in the bottom of the 11th. Cueto gave up seven hits while striking out seven, five days after being acquired from Cincinnati. Blue Jays newcomer Troy Tulowitzki (toh-loh-WITS’-kee) ignited the winning rally with a single before scoring the winning run.

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) — Beijing has been selected to host the 2022 Winter Olympics, becoming the first city awarded both the winter and summer games. Beijing defeated Almaty, Kazakhstan, in a vote of the International Olympic Committee yesterday. They were the only two candidates left after four European cities, including Oslo and Stockholm, pulled out for political or financial reasons.
