CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Kids love sports, except when they lose.

Many kids don’t know how to handle disappointment and failure.

Charlotte Parent Magazine editor, Eve White, is highlighting “Learning to Lose” in this month’s edition.

Values of sports participation include learning to set goals, working hard, risking 100 percent effort, and managing disappointment.

Adults can help buy having them learn from the experience of learning, reflect on what they did well and what they can improve on, use the loss as motivaiton, and provide feedback.

Adults should also act as role models. If you’re bitter when something goes wrong, they’ll copy your actions.
