Driver Killed In Crash Near CLT Airport Identified

CHARLOTTE, NC — CMPD has identified the driver killed in Wednesday’s accident near Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

The accident happened around 2:25pm on West Boulevard near Billy Graham Parkway. Investigators say 62-year-old Sandra Jackson crashed her 2006 Hyundai Sonata into the back of a 2019 Freightliner flatbed double axle truck, which was parked in the right lane.

CMPD says the truck had been parked in that area with its flashers on for more than an hour when the accident occurred. The truck’s driver was not in the vehicle at that time.

Three workers with the company that owned the truck reportedly heard the crash and were interviewed at the scene.

Jackson was not wearing a seat belt, police say, and speed and impairment do not appear to be factors.

Anyone with additional information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
