Police: Man Arrested 30 Years After Committing Murder

CHARLOTTE,NC–CMPD Cold Case Unit have arrested a man who is thought to be responsible for a fire that left one dead back in 1985.

Police have arrested Arthur Blake, 57, for his involvement in an apartment fire on April 26, 1985 at E. 7th Street in Charlotte.

The fire left one man identified as, Tony Baucom, dead inside the apartment.

Cold Case Homicide Unit reopened the case back in March and after interviewing several key witnesses, warrants were obtained for Murder and 1st degree arson.

The Violent Criminal Aprehension Team was able to locate and arrest Blake without inceident at the 3100 block of Creighton Drive, after being interviewed by detectives, Blake was transported to Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office were he was charged with Murder and 1st Degree Arson.
