CHARLOTTE, N.C. – “We wish we had Greg there with us, but like I said, we’ll see how it all shakes out,” says Panthers player Luke Kuechly about whether the domestic violence charges his teammate, Greg Hardy, faces have been a distraction during optional team work outs. Kuechly continues, “We just gotta wait and see what happens with the whole deal. That’s the biggest thing. It’s speculation right now, and we’ll see what happens.”
We’re learning more about what Nicki Holder says happened Tuesday morning. Warrant documents reveal the 24-year-old Epicenter waitress told police she and Hardy broke up in March but were trying to work things out. During that break, Holder says she had a short lived relationship with rapper, and minority Bobcats owner, Nelly.
Holder says the Nelly issue regularly upsets Hardy and that Tuesday morning, he “snapped” while the two were lying in bed together. Holder says Hardy assaulted her, including choking her twice. The officer noted Holder’s injuries in the warrant documents including “welts visible around her collar bone area.”
Hardy told a 911 dispatcher he was defending himself against Holder’s attack. Hardy said, “I don’t need a medic. She hit me in the face. I’m not bleeding or anything. It’s a little swollen, but I’m fine.”
Meantime, the restraining order Holder requested against Hardy was dropped Thursday because she didn’t show up to court. Her attorney Stephen Goodwin was there and told the Judge that he and his client were parting ways. It’s unclear if Holder has retained another attorney.
Also new Thursday, a judge modified Hardy’s bond and ordered him to immediately turn over all of his weapons and firearms. A Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s office spokeswoman says they are working with Hardy’s attorneys, and he will likely turn his weapons in Friday.
Hardy will be back in court June 27th.
