FORT MILL, SC — A Tega Cay man is charged with breach of trust and embezzlement after authorities say he took money from a high school booster club and a proposed athletic program.
Parker Thomas, 26, was paid a total of roughly $2,000 by five victims, police say, to cover the cost of fees and equipment for a youth travel lacrosse team he was creating. When he failed to complete the team, officials say the victims tried to recover their money.
Thomas reportedly failed to reimburse them.
During that same time period, police say Fort Mill High School reported three personal checks, totaling $750, missing from the Athletic Booster Club account. Investigators say those checks were “personally provided to Mr. Thomas, while on the premises of the FMHS,” and then deposited into his personal bank account.
Fort Mill Police have charged Thomas with five counts of Breach of Trust with Fraudulent Intent (Less than $2,000) and three counts of Embezzlement (Less than $10,000).
