ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) β Prince Fielder stayed home when the Texas Rangers left for Detroit and a series against his old team.
Fielder, who has missed four games because of a herniated disk in his neck, is scheduled to be examined by specialist Dr. Drew Dossett on Thursday.
After a 4-3 victory over Seattle on Wednesday at home, Texas traveled without Fielder for the four-game series that starts Thursday night.
The first baseman had played in 547 consecutive games before receiving an injection Saturday to treat his neck.
Depending on what happens with the exam, Fielder could join the team in Detroit.
Texas acquired Fielder last winter from the Tigers in a trade for second baseman Ian Kinsler.
