SEATTLE (AP) β George Springer hit a pair of two-run homers and Brett Oberholtzer scattered six hits over six innings in the Houston Astros’ 9-4 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Saturday night.
Springer, the Astros’ rookie right fielder who missed the first two games of the series with a sore hip flexor, hit his first homer in the first. His sixth homer of the season came in the Astros’ five-run fifth, and he added an RBI in the sixth for a career-high five in his 33rd big league game.
Oberholtzer (1-6), recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City before the game, allowed two runs in the first, and then settled in. He finished with three runs allowed β two earned β with one walk and a career-high eight strikeouts.
Brandon Maurer (1-3) went 4 1-3 innings for the Mariners, allowing six runs on six hits. He walked one and struck out two.
