Strong Storms Possible Thursday

While the timeframe will be short, some storms could produce tornadoes Thursday evening.

While most of April has been quiet and calm, the few storm systems that have moved through our area have been intense, to say the least. The system that is expected to move through on Thursday will be no different. The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has given the eastern portions of our viewing area, including the Charlotte Metro, a level 3 out of 5 risk for severe weather. The main threats will be locally torrential rainfall, damaging gusty winds, and a few isolated tornadoes.

While the threats certainly shouldn’t be discounted, the timeframe for severe weather will be much smaller and mainly limited to areas south and east of Charlotte. Once again, it looks like the bulk of the severe weather will stay well to the south of our viewing area, but a few supercells may stray into our eastern counties Thursday evening. As always, stay WeatherWise and tune in tonight at 10 for more updates.
