
Β CHARLOTTE, N.C — The mother of the infant who died in a car crash on Old Statesville Road Tuesday, 18 year old Kayla Davis, is charged with felony child abuse and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Thabiti Pierre-Louis was driving inbound on Old Statesville Road recklessly, at a high speed and under the influence of alcohol when he slid off the road, crashed into a telephone pole and flipped over.
The four month old was thrown from the car and were not strapped into a car seat. A passenger in the backseat was holding the infant.
The infant was pronounced dead at the scene. The five other people in the car were taken to CMC with minor injuries.Β
Driver, Pierre-Louis, 21, was charged in the hospital with DWI, child seat violation and over-crowding a vehicle. Pierre-Louis is also charged with felony death by motor vehicle, reckless driving, possession of marijuana and child neglect charges.
