YORK COUNTY, S.C. — A truck carrying sludge overturned on the ramp from Carowinds Blvd to I-77 South in York County Tuesday morning.
According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilities, the truck was carrying processed human waste from Charlotte wastewater plants to a landfill in Columbia, SC.
CMUD says the sludge has been filtered and does not pose an environmental risk. The sludge is being off-loaded to another truck. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
