CMPD Holds News Conference Addressing Protests In Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — CMPD says the body cam footage of the June 2nd protests will be released later on August 26th.

Officers with CMPD say they have petitioned the courts to allow them to release the footage in order to be completely transparent with the public.

Chief Jonny Jennings says there is over 100 hours of video and audio in the investigation from June 2nd.

Jennings says officers followed protocol during the protests, but to keep in mind that it was day five of the riots where officers were verbally and physically assaulted and that officers are human too.

Jennings says one sergeant has been disciplined for their inappropriate and insensitive comments from the riots on June 2nd.
