Flash Flooding Threat Continues

Extreme downpours caused flash flooding across the WCCB Viewing area. Some areas took on more than 7-8″ of rain over the last 48 hours. Areas across the Charlotte metro saw more than 3.5″ of rainfall over 3 hours. Water rescues, evacuations, and landslides are some of the impacts of flash flooding. Expect to flood of area rivers even when the rain stops as runoff flows into the Catawba, Yadkin, and Pee Dee River chains.Β  Storms and downpours will clear the region by mid to late afternoon with drier and cooler air moving in overnight. Lows will fall to the mid-50s – still 10-15 degrees above average. It will be pleasant for Friday with mostly sunny skies and highs reaching the mid-70s. Eta’s path will keep more rain and a second flooding threat out of our hair this weekend. Much cooler for Saturday with highs in the mid-60s. Another cold front brings a chance for showers Sunday. Even cooler and drier next week. Monday night lows will fall in the mid-30s with highs on Tuesday not getting out of the 50s.
