Governor Cooper: ‘Thousands of Doses of Covid-19 Vaccine Could Be On The Way In Two Weeks’

CHARLOTTE — Thousands of doses of Covid-19 vaccine could soon be on the way to North Carolina.  Governor Roy Cooper announced Tuesday the state may soon receive 85-thousand doses of Pfizer’s Coronavirus vaccine when it’s approved by the FDA.

And, that could happen soon.  The FDA has scheduled a meeting for December 10th to discuss Pfizer’s request for emergency use authorization for its vaccine.  And, with more than 3 weeks before Christmas, Cooper addressed the possibility of even tougher restrictions on North Carolinians to stop the spread of the virus, including a 9 p.m. statewide curfew.

“We’ve continued to look at all options in order to reduce the spread of the virus.  Some other states have done that, and that’s certainly an option that is on the table,” says Governor Cooper.

Health leaders in Mecklenburg and Stanly Counties are investigating cases of Covid-19 reinfections.  Mecklenburg County is reporting 34 people who have been re-infected with the virus.  Stanly County is reporting two cases.
