OSLO, Norway (AP) β Finland’s Kaisa Makarainen has clinched the biathlon World Cup title after coming seventh in the season’s concluding mass start, which was won by Anastasiya Kuzmina of Slovakia.
Tora Berger had a five-point lead over Makarainen before Sunday’s 12.5-kilometer race on the Holmenkollen course. Berger finished four points behind in the overall standings with a 14th-place finish in the final competition of the 33-year-old Norwegian’s career.
Makarainen won her second biathlon title with 860 points, ahead of Berger on 856. Darya Domracheva of Belarus was third with 793 points.
Teja Gregorin of Slovenia was second in the race and Marie Dorin Habert from France finished third.
The men’s 30K mass start takes place later Sunday.
