LANCASTER, S.C. — South Carolina troopers say one passenger died Saturday night after two cars crashed in Lancaster.
Troopers say they responded to the fatal car wreck around 7 p.m. on March 20th, and all occupants from both vehicles were taken to MUSC Lancaster Medical Center to be treated for injuries except for one passenger who died.
Troopers say the driver of a 2021 Volkswagen sedan, 25-year-old Shanequin Moore, was heading south on U.S. Highway 521 when the driver of a 2009 Honda sedan, 32-year-old Jykeona Kirkland, heading north on the same highway attempted to turn left onto Shiloh Unity Road without yielding to the right of way.
Moore collided with Kirkland while turning left, and both vehicles sustained damage in the crash, according to a news release.
Troopers say there was one passenger inside the Volkswagen also injured in the crash, and one of four passengers inside the Honda, who was sitting in the middle in the back, was killed in the collision.
Police say all the occupants are currently being treated at a local area hospital, and detectives are investigating the crash.
