CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte Fire Department officials say they are investigating one of its Battalion chiefs after he was charged for driving while intoxicated.
Officials say Battalion Chief Michael Gerin has been charged with a DWI for his involvement in this case.
Fire department officials say professional accountability is a priority for its members and they are expected to maintain this standard even off-duty.
Fire Chief Johnson released a statement on Sunday to say “Firefighters with the Charlotte-Fire Department are expected to conduct themselves to the highest professional standards on and off duty and will be held accountable when they fail to do so. At no time will this department tolerate behavior that violates the law or our community’s trust.”
