Officials say the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new mural will commence at 12 p.m. on Union Street, North, and coincides with the city’s monthly Small Business Saturday festivities that include local promotions, sidewalk vendors, and food trucks.

The mural titled “Bloom” created by local Concord artist Caswell Turner, owner of Cicada Studios, is 352 inches tall by 500 inches wide and was installed using a vinyl adhesion process.

Turner says the entire mural is vector artwork and took more than 72 hours to create, and The Avett Brothers themselves have approved of the mural.

Lyrics from the The Avett Brothers’ songs have been subtly incorporated throughout the mural, and the artist Turner says he has created a full “Lyric Collection” that starts to the right of the band’s name and spans the length of the mural using all of the band’s current songs starting with “Kind of in Love” and ending with “The Fire.”

Officials say this interactive element will allow viewers to search for the lyrics to their favorite Avett Brothers’ songs in the mural when they come to visit.

The City of Concord, over 150 individual donors, community organizations, and local businesses have contributed to this project.
