- High Chance for Ana Developing in the Atlantic this weekend
- Minimal Rain Chances
Discussion:
Another hot day in-store today with highs reaching the mid-80s this afternoon. Likely going to see abnormally dry to drought conditions further develop across the region with today’s drought outlook. Rain chances not looking great over the next 7-10 days which will only worsen the dry conditions across the area. Temps will rise into the 90s by Saturday as a heatwave takes hold of the area. We’re locked into this hot and dry pattern through the middle of next week, where temps will rise 10-15 degrees above average. Humidity levels will be rising as well with it feeling more like the triple digits by early next week.
Keeping an eye on the tropics, high chance of a short-lived subtropical system developing late this weekend southeast of Bermuda. This will pose no threat to the U.S., but could cause strong rip currents and bring heavy rain to Bermuda late in the weekend, before moving further to the northeast, where it will enter an unfavorable environment. If this system strengthens it will mark the 7th year in a row for an early start to the Atlantic Hurricane Season, which begins June 1. The first name of the 2021 season will be Ana.
