Popular Uptown Charlotte Restaurant The King’s Kitchen Reopening After Long Closure
Non-profit restaurant will resume dinner service beginning July 9
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The King’s Kitchen, a nonprofit restaurant that serves Southern cuisine from local farms and purveyors in the heart of Uptown Charlotte, is reopening this week, the Noble Food & Pursuits announced Wednesday.
The restaurant supports the nonprofit’s mission of feeding the hungry and providing an on-site life skills and leadership training program to get those in need back on their feet.
“Being able to reopen The King’s Kitchen is a long awaited and special moment for us,” says Jim Noble, executive chef and owner of Noble Food & Pursuits. “We’ve been able to keep most of our team from The King’s Kitchen employed at our other Noble Food & Pursuits restaurants and at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Dream Center, but I’m happy to see them go home to The King’s Kitchen and to be able to continue our mission there.”
The King’s Kitchen is located at 129 West Trade in Uptown Charlotte. During its closure, the restaurant received minor upgrades, including new paint and tabletops. The restaurant’s larger renovation, which took place in Winter 2020, included a new patio, remodeled bathrooms, and new upholstery.
“Due to the prolonged closure beginning shortly after our renovation, our dining room and patio are virtually brand new,” says Joseph Kirkland, assistant general manager of The King’s Kitchen. “We are so excited to see Uptown thriving and look forward to serving our guests once again.”
The King’s Kitchen will be open for dinner Tuesday through Friday, 5 – 10 p.m., and Saturday from 3 – 10 p.m. Lunch service will be added as more employees return to Uptown offices. Anyone who dines at the restaurant between July 9 and 24 may receive a complimentary appetizer in gratitude for their support.
